Who We Are...
Dan Plante - President
In 2008, after representing athletes through a larger agency for seven years, Dan established Forward Hockey to fulfill his vision of offering exceptional client service through lasting, genuine relationships with both players and their families. Now in his twenty fourth year as an agent, Dan has established strong bonds with his clients and developed a reputation as a "no-nonsense" negotiator on their behalves with respective clubs. Whether negotiating multi-million dollar NHL deals or negotiating an amateur tryout offer for a client straight out of college, the clients' best interests are always at the forefront. As a player, Dan employed both a larger and a smaller agency, most times, finding that the smaller agency was far more committed to his growth as a player and person, a mindset Dan now carries over into the dealings with his clients. Maintaining a small client-base by design, Dan identifies quality players with his keen eye for talent, and then guides them through the various levels of hockey and to a successful professional career.
Dan is no stranger to the many levels of amateur and professional hockey. Prior to becoming an agent for other players, Dan’s own playing career includes nearly 10 years of professional experience, most notably including 159 games played with the NHL’s New York Islanders where he was the recipient of the Bobby Nystrom Award given to the player that best exemplifies “leadership, hustle and dedication." Additionally, Dan won a Turner Cup in 2000 and a Calder Cup in 2002 with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves. Internationally, Dan has donned the Team USA jersey numerous times in representing his country, culminating when he captured the bronze medal in the World Ice Hockey Championships in Vienna, Austria. Collegiately, Dan helped the University of Wisconsin Badgers reach the NCAA tournament finals in 1992 in yet another year where he helped lead the Badgers to an NCAA tournament appearance. Prior to attending Wisconsin, Dan spent two years with the Edina High School, in Minnesota and two years with Hayward High School, in Wisconsin.
Based on the experience Dan has gained as a player and agent over the years, Dan strives to equip his clients with knowledge of all possible options so that, together with their families, his clients can make the best decisions for their amateur and professional careers.
